Whisk(e)y Lovers thread(II)

So I received a sample of this stuff and tried it last night - here are my tasting notes I shared with our club:

On the nose is turpentine followed by thinners and then some sugar cane juice. A very raw oak note follows similar to their previous iteration.

The first note on the palate is akin to eating steak tartare that has gone slightly funky. This is followed by a hint of overripe, if not rotten, banana. A bitter note prevails and leads into the most awful of finishes.

This stuff is truly awful in the most awful sense of the word. I can’t actually believe someone thought this good enough to bottle.

I ended up pouring the rest of the sample down the drain.
Best to just stick with the tried and trusted SA whiskies if you want to buy SA

The turps/thinners not is ever present. This just gets worse with each sip. Unbelievable!

This has phuqued my whole evening up because I’m not sure my palate will recover before tomorrow.

I ended up pouring the rest of the sample down the drain.

When you get my sample just slide it into the bin.
Sorry :X3:
I'm battling to give it away. Horrible stuff.

Whats a place for good prices on scotch single blends 18 years and above? I see Makro has some good prices but don’t know where else.

I’ve recently become quite a fan of scotch but over 18 years for some reason. The ones less I find a bit harsh for my palate.

Opened up some new stuff last night, while getting together with some Whisky mates from all over the world.

The Ardnamurchan Paul Launois 2nd release was amazing and even better than the 1st, which was also a scorcher of a dram.

The LAGG...well, there was mixed reviews on the net but I gad to try for myself. It is good, but not great. Lots of vegetative peat and green herbs and medium finish...at best. Some citrus helps, but it's also of the pithy kind so the whole thing feels a bit unbalanced tbh.

@MightyQuin, just got an email that the latest rendition of the Black Art, being the 10th, had arrived. Quite pricy though.
Got the same email, thanks. GBP 295 is not in my budget for one bottle. That's the equivilent of 2 top shelf bottles of Bourbon. And BA has been hit and miss s well the last 4 releases or so...
