Whisk(e)y Lovers thread(II)

Probably Irish Distillers Ltd.(Pernod Ricard)...from the Jameson's part of the "factory". Unless they still had Paddy left before flogging that off to Sazerac.

Early old releases were Bushmills and ex-Teeling - now West Cork.

West Cork is making some really nice stuff.

Got this one from a mate for my birthday…

Nothing that amazing
It's basically "here's all the **** we couldn't sell because nobody wants it"

No and, what a time to have no spare cash...XD

Three ships 2006 was a good release, might even be my favourite on balance. Old Pulteney Huddart is lovely, that little bit of extra peat helps a lot, and a good price there. The Ardnamurchan 07.21:05 is really getting close to as good as things like Kilkerran 12. The Bimber Bourbon Cask is lovely, the nose is great and it really has some good flavours going on, I had a dram at whisky library and really was much better than I expected.

But still overpriced for what it is IMHO.
I paid GBP65 for my bottle...for an Ardbeg Committee Release at CS, that is not expensive. Unless you feel the quality/taste profiles are not indicative of an Ardbeg Committee?

I haven't tasted it obviously so I cannot say.

You got in at the low end. Mostly going for GBP80 from my observations of auction prices.

To use your tag line: My skirt was not blown up at all.

Last had some of their stuff over two years ago - really did not enjoy it at all. Hopefully its improved. At that time I rated the two or three I was given at a tasting as the worst whiskey I had ever had. I think those three remain in my bottom 5 of all time.

I think it gets better with a bit of time and air - but its classic LVMH cynical marketing that is putting a lot if us off the brand - not as old as the 10, bit more abv, but we will sell it to you at almost 3 times the price.

Its not twice as good as 10 or An Oa in my view and Corry blows it away.
