Whisk(e)y Lovers thread(II)

Sorry but your point is still flawed. This was released 6 to 7 years ago and it's priced at the going rate at that time. Let's compare apples, WB bar sells the WB 10 Sherry Cask more expensive than the current price at Whisky Library. Until you compare the same releases your point is moot.
How much is the 10 Sherry at WB?

I prefer the 17 over the 10 and it is actually also rare due to being released that long ago.

If I have a rare whisk(e)y in my bar I’m selling and they don’t make it anymore, I will surely charge more? Why keep the price stuck at that date?

If I can get one now new, I won’t ask the seller to drop the price because it came out 7 years ago? I don’t understand your logic either.

This is the whole point why Springbank’s prices are so stupid.

The price at WB bar is R240, apples with apples, TWL is cheaper. That was your original gripe.

Your personal preference of which SB u enjoy has no relevance in your opinion of the pricing of TWL. Arguing that is whataboutism.

So are the other points. If you wish to discuss the pricing of Springbank or the pricing logic of old vs new then that's a separate discussion not related to TWL.

Wow, think there has been more action on this group today than probably this year

My bad, I should be posting more pictures of recent acquisitions.

A couple of points here:

1. Please read each of my replies regarding the pricing of Springbank at TWL. I never harped on the 10 Sherry like everyone else seems to be doing here.
2. I said their prices are excessive in my opinion due to actual evidence proven and you actually proving my prices aren't just old sucked out of the air pricing and it's actually for sale at WB.
3. Here are prices quoted in this thread at TWL for Springbank :
10yo - R 89
10yo PX - R 229
12yo CS - R 149
15yo - R 179
18yo - R 269
21yo - R 400+/-
4. Here are current prices apples to apples for WB:
10yo - R 62
10yo PX - R 240
12yo CS - R 83
15yo - R 151
18yo - R 151 ( wasn't specified which 18, so just went with base )
21yo - R 339

So the only one that's cheaper at the TWL is the 10 which seems to be the only one in the world that may be discussed. *MY* point is the Springbanks I like and drink are marked up too much at TWL.

And yes, I would very much like to discuss your theory / logic on old vs new bottle pricing. This is a forum about whisk(e)y, and there is no need for an entire new thread about it.

Again if you read my response of the 17 year old, you will see I never mention TWL vs WB in that post, it's just a general question I wanted to clarification on from you, you made it about that.

I don't want to fight, I really enjoy this conversation, but it seems everyone is getting a bit tense.

This is a forum about whisk(e)y,

And yet you've been whining about money for how many pages now?

don't want to fight,

Obviously you do...

I really enjoy this conversation,

I think you're the only one.

but it seems everyone is getting a bit tense.

It is quite simple. If you think TWL is "overpriced"...don't go there. Source and buy your own SB and enjoy them in the leisure of your own home.

IF you find you cannot source the SB you want, you stay without OR STFU about the costs (which you obviously have zero idea about) and pay the premium required to be able to taste these hard to source drams.

Your problem is that you want your cake....AND eat it.

TWL is taking ALL the risk and laying out all the cash....so that YOU don't have to. I would say that is rather convenient, wouldn't you?

Nicely done, Q

Jesus Christ, I get the message, I will STFU. So sorry for irritating, boring everyone and stirring kak. It was really not my intention, and I will not post in the thread again.
