So here were my Birthday whiskies this year, I by chance got these thanks to a master of malt order with @MightyQuin <3. There were almost two more whiskies but alas they will remain in a box somewhere in Cape Town.

The Laphroaig 10 cask strength was beyond expectation, probably one of the most 'wow' reactions I've ever had to a whisky. You often build up expectations around what something might be like and are let down when you finally get there but this was the exception, distinctly Laphroaig but so much stronger and punchier. I guess at 60.1% you can expect that ;D.

The boutique-y Three Ships I'd had at Bascule bar and loved it then, it still delivers that full flavour punch. I had got a sample of the Three Ships 10 PX master's collection (thank you so much 'Mr Simpson' :p) and comparing the two there's a lot of similarity there but there's a lot more flavour with the boutique-y. For me, it's like they removed the peat from the Benriach whisky brother px cask and let it age just a bit more to round it out.

Both of these are in my opinion perfect whiskies, just fantastic. :p
