My 1st post in this thread

I am doing a 5 day hike on Otter Trail in 10 weeks time and need advice on a nice whisky/whiskey to take with me.
There is just no way in hell I am hiking with 15 litres beer.

I just need 1 bottle of good white spirits that I can mix with fresh river water (I cannot stomach neat stuff).

I'm not a big liquor drinker but I did drink out a bottle of Monkey Shoulder once about 2 years ago that was gifted to me for free, and I really enjoyed it
Any recommendations in that price range?

Thank you
Perfect for Papa Smurf (not Whisky though).

Can't go wrong with Monkey Shoulder.
In that price range, consider Bell's Special Reserve.
If you're not set on Scotch - Jack Daniel Rye goes great with water

Got these from Checkers
Bruichladdich R750
Glenfiddich R937
Glen Scotia R413

I just popped in at Checkers in Mossel Bay. Glenfiddich 18 for R1499. I asked them to scan it and they did. No discounts whatsoever. I showed them your post and they were quite confused, confirming all prices and all discounts are the same throughout SA. You were very lucky!

I did have some luck myself and got Germana Cashaca in stock at Tops in Mossel Bay. R450 vs R550 at WhiskyBrother.

Mine did ring up at R1500 a bottle but the sticker on the shelf had it at R974, the manager had to reduce the price on the system. I was very lucky
