They probably found some way of linking reviews of the "normally priced" one to the third party one.
Because no one is crazy enough to pay that and not complain.

More examples.

Lagavulin 16yo for R2049

Ardbeg 10yo for R1129

Glenmorangie 10yo for R869

:X3:
As we've got back into Level 1 I've checked out mainly online outlets.
i'd love to understand why Takealots prices are so ridiculously high?
R2k for a 16yo Laga? over R1100 for a Ardbeg 10yo , over R1600 for a Glemo Nectar. Seems to be sold by ACA liquors.
Just makes no sense to have online purchases with such sky-high prices.
Would gladly go to a physical outlet like Makro, NGF, Checkers, PnP, etc or to the online stores like whiskybrother. Besides Makro, who are generally the cheapest, I'm happy to support the other stores. Takealots prices are simply robbery.

This has been discussed already. These particular stock items are not their own stock. They are reselling it for a third party who are the ones responsible for the ridiculous prices.

Makro's Ardbeg prices in particular seem to beat everyone else currently, got a Wee Beastie yesterday for R569 and its older cousins were all in stock with decent pricing:

This never bothers me as I just go and buy it somewhere else. I would be interested to know who ACA liquors are though, googling draws a blank.

Just saw this in the Classifieds, might be useful for someone in JHB

Also, finally managed a nice image of my line up of Peat Monsters.

The tall bottle is a 1.75 litre magnum limited edition at the 5th anniversary of the blend. The painted Peat Monster to its right is a 10th Anniversary special edition cask strength bottle done for Park Avenue Liquors, the owner of which was the person who asked John Glaser to make him a peated blend - thus inventing Monster. Monster later became The Peat Monster to avoid copyright and trademark issues with Monster Energy.

Also, forgot about this one - think dualmeister spotted it, while axsis very kindly picked it up for me. Same process for the older label Peat Monster brown label. Much obliged folks!

Takealot has evolved into a multi-sided marketplace. they are not reselling it. they take a cut of the transaction and handle certain a fair amount of the fulfilment and reverse logistics.
There are plenty of competitors on Takealot in other categories who make it competitive. The stance of allowing ACA to continue at those prices makes that particular section of their marketplace a 'market for lemons.' And as such no-one will really buy from there. It may be they dont really know any better especially in the SM Whisky category.
So what happens is that potential Customer Joe wants to get a SM whisky but TAL prices are ridonk. Joe goes to Makro, where he also decides while he is there to buy all manner of other household goods that he could have ALSO got of TAL. Thus they dont just lose the SM sale but an entire basket. An any retailer worth the salt knows its about increasing basket size.
