before I forget the list, past weekend tasting that started off at the whisky library, no detailed notes I'm afraid:
- Glenfiddich Grand Cru 23yo (good i.e. not outstanding)
- Glenmorangie Signet (good)
- Macallan Rare Cask (good)
- Bruichladdich Black Art 4.1 (outstanding)
- Balvenie 21yo Portwood (better than good)
- Springbank 21yo (outstanding)
- Laphroaig 10yo (no thanks, Ardbeg every time)
- Lagavulin 16yo (want this on the shelf with Ardbeg to compare directly)
- Lagavulin 12yo special release (outstanding)
- Three Ships 12yo single malt (would buy this if they sold it locally)
- Aerstone 10 land cask (strangely sip-able for the price, though at #11 I certainly wasn't sober anymore)
- Kavalan Concertmaster (bit of a chemical taste just put me off)

Which years Laga 12 SR release?

Black Art is an odd one - I love the distillery, but yet to find a Black Art I like. That is before I get to the price.

Your line up is/was quite eclectic - not sure if order above aligns to your tasting order, but if correct, having the Kavalan at the end was a problem and would suggest trying a Kavalan again but maybe early on in a flight.

I think 2019, but can't be sure tbh

that order is indeed the tasting order, so I will look to give Kavalan another try per your advice

it basically went something like:
- first 6 were a pre-set tasting
- next 3 was me deciding I must go back to well known peat brands after being on an Ardbeg mission for a while now
- the Three Ships just because it came up in conversation and was available
- the last two were completely by chance
