The Teeling was very fruity, it may not be to everyone's liking, but it was very nice to taste something different.

I've highlighted the flavours I picked up:

TASTING NOTES from their website

Nose
Vibrant with notes of melon, figs, toffee and lemon

Taste
A balance mix of dry fruits, citrus, vanilla, spice and cloves

Finish
Long with sweetness in harmony with dry tannins from the wood

Would love to have that with some smoked haddock! I think the saltiness of the dish and those notes will compliment each other nicely.

I've found, contrary to many "purists", that a lot of these brands and vintages we talk about here can be enjoyed with a meal just as well as after one, or by itself. I've started experimenting with some of my mid-range branded whiskys, and I've enjoyed it to no end!

I find it very difficult to have whisky accompanying any food whether it's with water, soda, neat or whatever. Before or after, no problem. But alongside, afraid not.

Not everyone has the ability to enjoy a whiskey and food pairing as it depend on the sensitivity of your pallet. Islay whisky pairs well with seafood or a game meat like kudu.

I am glad to have found this thread. I am a lover of whisky, whiskey and bourbon! I love my Islay and sherried whiskies and appreciated a good blend. My personal choice, Laphroaig and Talisker. But I love loads of other whiskies as well. Tonight I am enjoying a dram of Glenfarclas.

Sounds nice. I'm actually sipping away at my Glenmorangie 18yo again tonight.
This bottle just gets better and better!

And on a slightly depressing note, I only noticed today how much the price of whisky (and alcohol in general) has gone up.

I haven't had to buy anything for a while, having stocked up quite nicely over the last couple of months, and noticed today the price of the Glenmorangie 10yo sitting at around the R430/bottle mark. Last time I bought it was around R370-ish.
That's close to the Glenfiddich 12yo special reserve I had the other day, and I have to admit, I might make the switch.

This guy knows what's up.

Prices have skyrocketed, it's a combination of our currency being in the toilet and the delayed reaction of the whisky price increases in Europe.

When I had this at Whiskey Festival I liked it, but tasting it now after some VAT69 makes me wanna hurl :(

Lol, they grow up so fast.

This exact thing happened to the wife. We had some Talisker. After the first round I switched to Black Bottle. She takes a sip and gags. I look at her and ask what's wrong. She reckons the Talisker destroyed the black bottle for her.

Awesome deal.
Is this for online purchases only?

That's a pretty decent deal, about on par with the Christmas specials.

Lagavulin and Talisker are excellent, Dalwhinnie is good, singleton is meh.

A dram of something fine right now to warm the bones would be perfect!
