Goes for ~R750, you could maybe try sell it to a retailer at cost or try online classifieds.

I tasted JWB once. Awesome stuff. But that price.....yoh.

Which whiskeys can you guys recommend that's similar in smoothness to JWB, but does not cost an arm and leg?

Considering JW Blue is 35% grain whisky, basically any single malt would be "smoother"

Speaking of Jameson.... What is the general opinion on the Jameson 18 Reserve?

Most Whiskeys in the price range will be really nice. Depends on what you want. Personally I would recommend the Dalwhinnie 15 for a light and sweet whisky or the Lagavulin 16 if you prefer peatier whisky. The Glenfiddich 18 is also quite a nice middle ground between the other 2 I have mentioned.

My recommendations:

Glendronach 15
Highland Park 18
Ardbeg Uigeadail
Bruichladdich Octomore

If you're not sure what your husband likes, Highland Park 18 is your best bet.
