I've yet to try the double black. Heard good things about it. Makro has a special on the JW Black. R269 and if you buy two they come to R520. Think I might spend some ebucks and get some everyday drinking whisky. I've nearly polished off one of my bottle of Black Bottle (original blend) and I want to savour the other.

Double Black is a slightly peatier version of JW Black.
I like it

Bought some Bushmills 12 today. (~550 zar)

Slightly underwhelmed to be honest. Specifically by the texture...was expecting it to be a bit more oily than watery texture wise if that makes sense.

Pretty good overall, but next time I'm getting something else.

Bushmills - 12 year old -Slightly underwhelmed?
Reckon your expectations were too high.

So the only Glenmorangie that I have tried recently is the Lasanta. I don't like the Nectar D'or but I'll grab a Quinta Ruban and I think a friend of mine has the original 10 year old then I'll give my views on all of them once I've had a go over the weekend.

Should be a good weekend :)

I find Glen morangie very light, it's due to the long stills, but don't remember the tour that much as the lady giving it was cute. Overall I liked Ben Riach, Cardhu and Craggonmore but here in SA, famous grouse is a decentish whisky.

So I didn't have a chance to put my full plan into action. Only had The Duthac and Lasanta over the weekend. The Duthac is quite similar to the Lasanta but I would describe it as richer and smoother with a hint of oak. All in all I really enjoyed it.

Gents, what is your take on the Compass Box range of whiskies?Spicetree is awesome but i have not realy had any of the other? I also find Compass Box's controversial approach in making some of its whiskies intriguing!

I'm not really a fan but I have a few friends who are. If you enjoyed Spicetree you can expect the rest of the range to be just as good.

Anybody tried J&B urban honey?
Is this something you would have like any other whiskey, or is it a mixer?

It's a whisky liquor, you can drink it however you like really.

So I have been browsing all the pages of this thread to find a good whiskey for around R500 to R600.
Something I can enjoy neat, without cringing at the taste.
Just want to treat myself.......;)
Will settle for 2 bottles.... Highland Park 12 and Glenmorangie 10.

Ok I know it's no whiskey but has anyone tried fireball?
