Monkey Shoulder and Jura are awesome :D

Yep, my wife loves the Monkey Shoulder. I do too but judging by the level of the Jura, I clearly like it more. It is the normal 10 year old.

VAT69 en 'n vrag Sprite ja.

Lol, this would be correct. There is no way I'm dashing the expensive stuff.

How is that lagavulin?

Really nice. Smoother, less burn, sweeter because of the finishing period in sherry casks. The wife got us this in duty free. I still want to get the original as well.

Amd where did you get that black bottle?

This was off the afficionadios whisky shop. I bought two bottles, polished off the one and I'm going to savour the other. If I see a bottle anywhere I'll buy it on the spot. I think the immediate plan is to add JW Black and then the ten year old Ardbeg.

Cheers

Super keen to try those Distillers editions.

I think aficionados are now sold out of the old black bottle. Was a really good buy.

The ardbeg 10 exploration pack is still on takealot for R629. Comes with samplers of some of the other ardbeg releases.

1. If you enjoy Black Bottle, you may also consider Smokey Black Grouse.

2. Monkey Shoulder was a surprise find... and well worth the price tag, I thought.

Weekend special

Lovely spicy flavours

I've tasted the Phophecy which is heavily peated. What level of peat did this have, none/light?
Very very light peat (if any at all). The Superstition has quite a lot of peat but this one is almost sweet. Would love to try the others in the range so that's on the plan for the year.

Heading to Dullstroom next weekend and will pass by the Whiskey tasting place to try some more.

I'm pretty sure Wangthai has at least one of the Jura's at the bar, reasonably priced if memory serves.

Make sure you take a walk around at WAW before deciding on what you wanna taste, you might find a gem in the shelves still available for tasting. I was lucky enough to taste the Sazerac 18, sadly there's none left.
