Island Green ? Had to go and Google that.

Named Johnnie Walker Island Green, the new blend will be available from July as a travel retail exclusive that brand owner Diageo is hailing as a ‘true game changer for the Scotch whisky category’.

With a greater proportion of malt from Caol Ila distillery on Islay, Johnnie Walker Island Green is said to have a ‘rich, fruity sweetness’ that’s complemented by flavours of peat smoke.

Completely different blend than Green Label. Looks very interesting.

Johnnie Walker Green Label: Talisker, Linkwood, Cragganmore, Caol Ila

Johnnie Walker Island Green: Caol Ila, Clynelish, Glenkinchie and Cardhu.

Buy it here:

Also note that the island green is NAS. Supposedly more Peaty than the 15 according to one review I saw.

Thanks for this! I've tried Singleton before and I was pleasantly surprised, to be honest, although it was one of the cheaper bottles if I'm not mistaken. I've been looking at Glenmorangie for a while now, and I see TAKEALOT has a gift box of the cheaper 10YO. I love me a gift box with glasses, to be honest... :D

I'm now thinking that I'm going to rather get a few bottles of the cheaper stuff than to splash on a big bottle in one go. It'll give me more to taste and to get a feel for the distilleries than if I go out and buy a single bottle. It'll also soften the blow if some people who like to visit gets up and comes back with a glass full of coke and fancy whisky. Yes, I know people like that... O.o

I'm keen on giving Ardbeg a go though. Still cheap. Maybe it's just the Three Ships 3YO I don't like?

I tasted the Ardbeg recently. Amazing to say the least. Like chomping on the peat bogs if you're a bog monster.

OK, so I went and bought with my wallet. I ended up getting a Dahlwinnie 15YO 1 liter, as well as a Glenmorangie Lasanta 120YO for a grand total of... R988. They had specials and I paid with the voucher I had, so all-in-all not expensive at all. Reasoning:

Glenmorangie Lastana - I like sweeter whiskies and this one seems sweet, with no smoke or peat. I think I'll like this one.

Dalwhinnie 15YO - Sweet, like I like my whiskies, and it's a 1l bottle for a steal. Even cheaper than the ODO deal from the other day - and without the shipping charges!

Let's see how this turns out...

^^ Nice, Enjoy.

I have yet to try the Dalwhinnie 15YO, it is on my list

It's on special on TAKEALOT today, R749 per bottle (1 litre bottle) and it'll include free delivery as well. Seems worth it, IMO.

So I bought myself a bottle of Glenmorangie Lastana. It's not bad at all. I had to choose between buying the Lasanta or Ardbeg. I will still try the Ardbeg sometime.

The Ardbeg is on special for like R550 a bottle for the 10 yr Islay. Definitely worth it.
I am quite keen on trying out the Glenmorangie Lastana, it seems to be a decent price.
