  • Johnnie Walker Black/Double black - Actually nice whisky considering how mass-produced it is. (Slightly peated)
I was at a wedding a few weeks back. The only whiskey they had that I figured I would stomach was this one. JW 12YO Double Black. I ordered a double, neat. I was actually really pleasantly surprised. It was a good dram, considering the cost and the fact that it was a wedding at some woodlandsy outdoorsy lodge in the Free State. I would buy it again.

Yep, I received the Arbeg Committee email this afternoon. Available from May 2020 I think...

For the first time in Ardbeg’s history, they rounded up Pinot Noir casks from the country that lies the furthest distance from Islay – New Zealand, that other remote island nation where sheep have been known to outnumber the locals by 7:1.

Dr Bill Lumsden, Ardbeg director of whisky creation, said: ‘Ardbeg Blaaack knits together velvety summer fruit pudding and bitter cherry, with a deeper edge of soot and Ardbeg’s hallmark smoke. It’s the perfect dram for toasting our legendary committee.’

Will cost about R1 700...for the retail release. Official Committee will be much more I think...cask strength costs money.

Committee release probably in the R4000-R5000 region based on what I've seen in the past.

What whiskey are you drinking tonight?
Tonight I finish my Ardbeg 10 the first "proper" whisky I bought last year (after all your guys recommendations). Ill crack open the Ardbeg corry this weekends!

Feeling weirdly sad about finishing the bottle :p

Got one more loose sample to go through before I start with my Japanese whisky advent calendar
I'm also considering getting an advent calendar this year....for the first time. Keen on the tasting experience and those sample bottles will sure come in handy.
