I'm also considering getting an advent calendar this year....for the first time. Keen on the tasting experience and those sample bottles will sure come in handy.

MOM sold the XMAS ones at 50% off, the wife wanted the tequila one so I got myself the Japanese.

Bought these to decide whether I want to open my bottles.

Damn!!....That Japanese one looks amazing and at 50% off, it was an absolute bargain...

I see they are still selling quite a few 2019 advents, but at full price. Pity I missed out on that sale.

I'll keep a close eye at the end of this year, for sure.

is this place legit? Anyone bought from there?

Its just like price checker they all link to other sites all international by the looks of it like the one linked to MoM

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
You only show results from UK retailers, why is that?
We launched Whisky Marketplace with a group of trusted UK retailers - most of whom ship worldwide - all being well we will start to include whisky retailers from other countries and continents in the not too distant future.
Can my whisky shop be included on Whisky Marketplace?
If you are an online whisky retailer and you're interested in having your catalogue of whiskies appear in our search results please email [email protected]
The price was different when I clicked a product link, why is that?
When retailers change their prices it can take up to 48 hours for the price to update here on Whisky Marketplace. Always check the price on the retailer's site before completing your purchase.
Once I make a purchase from one of the listed retailers, is Whisky Marketplace responsible for ensuring the order arrives safely?
No, Whisky Marketplace is only a search and price comparison site. Always read the terms and conditions when buying whisky from an online retailer.
Can I use these images for my website, blog or App?
That's not up to us. We have express permission to use these images, but they don't belong to us. As such you would need to seek permission from the retailer who owns the images.
What does 'Beta' mean?
This is a new website and it is in the process of being tested, so we are still ironing out a few of the creases. If you spot something that doesn't work or could work better please let us know.
Do you offer a whisky valuation service?
We don't provide a whisky valuation service - sorry.

I'll give u a heads up if I see it on special.

Thanks man...

I have already investigated that Rum in a lot of detail and it gets very shaky reviews.

I follow some very serious Rum review sites and blogs, as I'm very careful with rum. Due to the rather slack "laws" governing this industry, there's a LOT of crap out there, with lots of sugar and caramel and other additives.

I had it in my basket and after a lot of reading, took it out again.

But you can't see how much you have left :X3:
While that might be a joke, it actually is one of the reasons whisky was traditionally bottles in dark bottles, way back then. Scotsmen said that if you can't see how empty the bottle is, you don't be so depressed when you drink more of it. Fun little fact.

Sorry for off topic but what does the sugars and caramel do, or why do you prefer it not in the Rum?

Sugar sweetens Rum. Rum is sweetened, flavoured and spiced after distillation, otherwise it would basically be vodka. Caramel usually refers to colouring (E150D), which happens with whiskies as well. I don't think it's THAT big of a deal, but some people have an issue with it.

EDIT: But I will admit openly and freely that I'm a rum fan, albeit an ameteur when it comes to experience with it. My favourite is The Kraken, so yeah, it shows the width of my experience. I also enjoy strong, dark, sweet, and spicy rums.

I'm also a fan of the Kraken. Two other 'cheapies' I've found to be very enjoyable are Captain Morgan Black spiced (also a fan of the regular dark rum) and Sailor Jerry.

Also, Stroh FTW!

Had some Woodford Reserve (the not-special one) last night after a looong time away from most of my hard liquor, as I tend to swing between bouts of homebrewing beer and and a want for more whiskies. I still prefer the Wild Turkey bourbon though, bonus is it's also cheaper.

Rum is distilled from either molasses or sugar cane juice, so it is never, ever even close to being Vodka.

A spiced rum is flavored and spiced after distillation, but otherwise it gets it color and flavors from the type of distillation (pot or column) and the barrels it is aged in, exactly like Whisky.

And this is only the tip of the iceberg...but I do not wish to derail the Whiskey thread. There is a Rum thread but no-one ever goes or posts there.

Thanks for the explanation

Do you have a link? The forum search is not playing ball

Actually, it's distilled from a fermented, alcoholic wash made with the above, so it's pretty much vodka, just like whisky, brandy, gin, etc. are all types of vodkas before being finished (using spices, infusions, botanicals, woods and more). Remember vodka is basically ethanol and water. But yes, not to distract from this thread.

Still have a closed bottle.

I have 13 closed bottles

That picture got me blocked from the new black bottle's (spit spit spit) FB page. They ran a competition where you could win a bottle if you posted a picture of your favourite way to enjoy the new black bottle (but admittedly that was after a LOT of trolling from me :D ).
