IDK man I'm just trying to salvage the situation here :D
And I understand that of course.

But this is the Whisky thread...not the trolling and talking kak about supposedly mixing a 20yo with fanta during lockdown-thread.

So I'll gladly play the bad cop ( you know the un-pc thing nowadays ) and call out people that enter this thread just to troll.

Thanks for the suggestions, I haven't had either but I'll pick them up as soon as the stores reopen!

I bought a Laphroaig a couple years back (I think it was the 10 year old) and it was too hectic so I gave it to my brother. I'll also try the select though! Might also need to give the 10 year old Laphroaig another chance I guess

I did 5 imports between Feb 2020 and Dec 2020. During 2 of then DHL did not even call me for an ID Number or Importers number.

Normally they ask for either and then I just give them my ID number.

Same here, I've done more than 3 in a year. Whisky, supplements & electronics, no issues.

Does anyone have a suggestion for a replacement of the original black bottle? Price preferably under R600? The slight peaty flavour was amazing.
I recently got a bottle of this, it's very peaty but it's in your price range.

If anything the Select might be more peaty than the 10 year old.

Have you tried Bells Special Reserve or Johnny Walker Double Black? Both are way under R600, and both are surprisingly good offerings with a hint of smoke in the back.
That bells special reserve is great for the price, I might get some grief for this but in some ways reminds me of the talisker 10 (similar bottle??)

Actually the Select is less peaty, slightly more sweet but definitely a lighter version of the 10.
Hmm, it's been a while since I had the 10, might have to get one soon, to verify of course :p

No, Select is a more subdued flavour all around. Less smoke, less vanilla, less iodine, different mouth feel, and a much shorter finish.

IMHO....of course.
I yield to your superior knowledge. :giggle:

I've heard Naked Grouse may also fit the bill quite efficiently. Surprisingly good reviews from some serious Whisky people on the net.
