I spoke to the manager at a checkers near me. They have random gift boxes on sale at great prices and they go on sale randomly as he finds the stock.
I picked up glen grants 10 year old gift pack for R350
They also had a don julio tequila gift pack for 450.

I am going to have to get him to call me when he finds items to put on sale.

Sounds random...

I'm looking at the Kamiki and Nikka Coffee Grain next
Everyone I've spoken to says Kamiki was not great.

Coffey Grain is very vanilla forward and sweet, and not that balanced in my opinion. If you don't have it yet, get a Bains 15, it's much better and much better value in the same ball park of flavours.

Another consideration is the single grains held by bottleshop/wine of the month. I got to taste their 22yo invergordon (now gone) and it was easily one of the best single grains I've had very balanced so might be well worth taking a chance on some of those, just not their Caol Ila and Ardmore sadly those weren't that good :(.

Such a shame. Picked up some great deals there. A couple of Loch Lomonds, my Redbreast, my second TSW Oloroso Cask after ban ect

Mine has done the same - now behind cashiers - you not going to find me trying to peer past customers and cashiers to see what is there or look at the prices.

Yeah. I have a Tops like this as well. So they not only behind the cashiers (by the window), but then pack all the crates of Coke in front of the liquor store window as well. So a double whammy.

it's sad, but also a question of scale i.e. they're too big to look at your query closely, they probably thought you are complaining about their prices and their reply is f-you!

their own whisky prices are quite decent actually, it is their other/partner merchants who have the ridiculous prices, like "ACA Liquors" whoever the fahk they are

Why is this such an issue??

Do your homework when shopping for Whisky. I go to all online sites and compare pricing before pulling the trigger on a purchase.

If TA has a bottle of Laga 16 for R 1800 or whatever, I just smirk and browse further.

Let's talk about Whisky/ey instead of "irritating" eCommerce practices.

Literally every review of Jack Daniels Single Barrel Strength says that they are blown away. Adds to wanted list :)

But there are so many better Tennesee Whisky than this out there at that price class.

Buy this and if you do not like it, I will buy it off you:

This one https://www.htfw.com/jack-daniels-single-barrel-cask-strength? I have the "normal" single barrel and it is so good but that price of the strength, not sure if anywhere local has it

Be careful what you wish for

Sadly I don't really feel barrel proof bourbons are worth the cash we have to fork out for them here. I have an Elijah Craig and have tried the whisky brother exclusive, both are very good but I really enjoy scotch/world whisky a lot more. I really do like the Jack Single Barrel and Jack Rye so I'd probably like this but I just can't justify the price and I would rather spend that money on good Scotch. Also I am finding I'm not as interested in cask strength whiskies.
