Was due to replace my bottle of Maker's 46, have tried the 1792 and Blanton's which are in the same price bracket and all equally as good. Thought I'd try the JD after seeing your post, not the barrel proof but this one's 47%. Got this at Makro for R569, there was a sticker stuck over the label hiding the Hand Selected for Tops at Spar.

Generally steer clear as well but the reviews on the 45% version aren't bad and some positive one's for this on Whisky Brother, will take one for the team.

I must say I enjoy the "normal" JD Single Barrel, not sure how different this one is
