I couldn't resist this liquid Christmas Cake for the actual nightcap. So much baking spices from nose to finish...Five Spice and star anise. Amazing dram:

Uigeadail ftw
I see it is sold out everywhere now, managed to get one on second attempt, first place is refunding me as they couldn't get from their supplier anymore.
Well done to them, definitely keen to try it.

Agreed with comments above. Uigeadail is the GOAT.

Last time I checked Ardbeg was still the smallest producer by volume on Islay so with growing popularity the stocks are likely to get tighter. I guess my only hope is that marketing/growth doesn't eventually impact on the quality of their whisky. If they keep the "core" range proper then hopefully all will be well.

But from the Beist bottlings in the mid 2000's to the Uigeadail and Corryvreckan today they continue to make my tastebuds tingle.

Slainte mhath Ardbeg!

Tried Paul John for the first time at a tasting last year and was pleasantly surprised. It was very very nice.

The whole impact of the subcontinent climate on evaporation of the whiskies is also fascinating (and something I didn't know). I did not expect them to be able to replicate "Scotch" in a quarter of the time.

Then you should try some Amrut....amazing stuff, especially their CS releases.

Good thing they completed their new additional stillhouse this year, nearly doubling their production capacity from 1.4 million liters of alcohol annually to 2.4 million liters.

Ahh. Thanks for the info.
So then even more focus required to try maintain their quality standards.

Went out yesterday to find a bottle, first 3 stores sold out, last stop had a bottle but ended up leaving with this instead. Thought I'd rather try something new.

Well done. Can't go wrong with a CS Kilkerran. Although that is Batch 5, the 2nd Oloroso Sherry release. And there is some interesting and controversial feedback on the internet re. the barrels used etc.

I'm tasting mine soon.

This is probably going to be running a close second to my whisky of the year this year (Excluding single casks, as they aren't as available), although Springbank/Kilkerran are often rarer than single casks nowadays. It's very much that musty, funky dirty sherry that Springbank pulls off so well. I'm still somewhat banking on Andy's Three Ships release this year to come out on top but it's going to be really really hard to top these dirty sherried drams from Campbeltown.

2019 - Kilchoman STR cask / Hazelburn 14 Oloroso / Three Ships 9 Fino
2020 - Compass Box Myths and Legends II / Laphroaig 10 CS Batch 12 / Benrinnes 15 Flora and Fauna
2021 - Springbank Local Barley 10 55.9% Oloroso / Kilkerran 8 56.9% / Compass Box Menagerie

I'll take it off your hands if the sulfur is too much

Nice, still need to try this one

Funnily enough the store I first bought from phoned me this morning to say they now had found me a bottle haha, but already received my one from Bottega, added the other 2 to try as well :)

So I’m going through the ball-aching and painstakingly slow exercise of cataloguing my collection when I came across this hiding behind bottles last night.

The elusive Batch 2…
