Thanks to @DramBuddy I managed to win a bottle of this KilchArd (Kill Hard) on auction. Love both distilleries, love the play on things here - cannot wait to get it.

Paid a visit to Decanter in Braam Fischer, Randburg today.

Shop has a very awesome selection of whisky - but the prices are expensive! Bottle of Scorch for R9k. Pricing seems more reasonable on most bottles of the more standard range stuff.

Think they are catering for the market that wants something special but don't want to have to search for it. You walk in and choose one of 10 rarer Macallan's for between R4k and R12k, pay and leave.

Really hope they do well and pricing starts to come down.

I quite doubt that their pricing will drop. It's the same guy that owns Tops in Northriding, Glen acres, Bedfordview & Blackheath. All the prices are consistent between the stores and has been for ages. Any bargains/good pricing have been taken by me picked up my second Peat Monster Arcana for R1100 from Decanter.

Edit: take a drive to the LocoLiq around the corner in Blairgowrie. Checkers at the next traffic light up has Glenfiddich IPA for R795, not a fan personally.

Cool man thanks for the info. Actually remembered your post about the Arcana but alas - all gone . Will check out the LocoLiq.
 
I actually said to my wife that any bargains you find here is a pricing mistake!
 
Isn't Decanter/Tops that same shop posted a few pages back with all the whiskies in the sun? Your cash isn't the only thing being burnt, then.

Haha. Think Decanter in Randburg is fine. They are in the window but there is an overhang in the outside passage. The Sun also doesn't arc around that way so they should be good.

Unless the other store is his and he rotates stock :) . Then they are buggered indeed.

The pics were from Tops Bedfordview. The Glen Acres stores also suffers the same issue.
 
Very few people in SA have that level of Kilchoman collection - some interesting stuff. Given what it is, prices are about what one would expect to pay on auction.
