Cape Town - The Freedom Front Plus is laying charges with the SA Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) against two Odendaalsrus police officers for allegedly calling a farmer a "white dog".

In a letter to the SAHRC on Monday, FF Plus spokesperson Pieter Groenewald referred to a recent Volksblad newspaper article alleging that Constables Mokwena and Mafabatho of the Odendaalsrus Police Station had called a farmer a "white dog" and said "all white dogs in South Africa will be killed".

"You would surely agree that such actions, especially by members of the police, cannot be tolerated and is definitely hate speech," he said.

It seemed the reference to white people as white dogs was becoming more and more prevalent, especially in the police service, the party said.

"It cannot be tolerated and decisive action is required. This hate speech is unconstitutional, and a contravention of section 16 of the Constitution, Act 108 of 1996.

"The Freedom Front Plus therefore lays an official complaint in this regard and requests that you investigate the case speedily," Groenewald said.

In a statement later, Groenewald said the party also intended to ask Safety and Security Minister Nathi Mthethwa to immediately suspend the two constables.

"These actions of police members attest to naked racism and hate speech. Actions such as these incite racial hatred between black and white people which will in future boil over into open conflict if drastic action is not taken."

The farmer concerned had officially laid charges against the two constables last week for illegally pointing a firearm, crimen injuria and illegal trespassing, he said.

What good is police if they are the criminals

The police sure don't have good role models to follow with their chief Selebi on one years paid leave for he's involvement in corruption and organised crime, and the ANC president Jacob Zuma with his long list of corruption, and his signing of the song "Give me my machine gun".
I saw Helen Zilla comment on TV that the public deserve the right to know if he is guilty of any of the 700 corruption charges he faces.

Doubt it will make a difference to the majority of the ANC fan base if he is found guilty or not, they will still vote for him.

Very disturbing, and it's important that we learn what the motivation is behind this.
I wonder if it has anything to do with the "give me my machine gun" song, and what that song implies, or maybe the Politian's feel confident that they'd not be prosecuted for their illegal activities under Jacob Zuma (Stort Kop).

Wait, what kind of dogs? Pitbulls? Huskies? Alsatians? :)

Did he bite them? I hope they get rabies!

Hate speech is a one way street sorry.

Just remember in SA a black person can not be a racist.

could you provide links to this, as i've googled it and haven't been able to find this. also, who do we use as a measure to decide what racism is and is not?

If I could choose I would be a white German Shepard dog. woof!

I've noticed that a white person is apparently more likely to see the good in an obviously intended insult :o, whilst the opposite seems true for black people. White Dog seems innocuous, but "dog" is definitely an insult, so put together "white dog" can't avoid becoming classified as racist insult.
