Whizzyy USB 3G router

Take out the modem. Turn on router and wait for the light to flash blue. Insert the modem, see what happens. Let me know if that works.

I get a label that says "Connected HSPA" and a signal strength indicator at the top.
But I cannot connect - I click the "Connect" button it changes to "Connecting..." and then "ReConnecting" but nothing happens.

Update: I've tested with a Huawei E153 modem and then everything works

- can you please confirm if a ZTE MF190 works (and at what versions of the ZTE firmware)
This is a CELL C branded modem

Did you contact the call centre?

I left a message on the Contact us page, but I don't see any telephone numbers on the whizzyy page?

In the box there should be a card with the call center phone number. The interesting thing is, someone walked into the call center and they have the same modem as you with exactly the same problem. They are looking into it and will have an answer in the next day or to. I will post when i get the info.

Great thanks!

Does it support the following modems ?

1. Huawei E352
2. Huawei K4510
3. ZTE MF691

These are not included in firmware. If you have these modems available they could be added to the firmware. How do you know to chose these 3 specific modems that are not compatible out of the many that are compatible?

Maybe I'm psychic...you'll never know. It would be nice if you could add them.

I got the 3G150B from Scoop at under R200 with a battery. Works very well.
The one you listed does not seem to have a battery, but at least it's cheap. (R145)

They had a model with a battery which was also well priced couple of months back. Must have sold out. I have a Trendnet model which has a battery and also takes a modem via USB. Given the choice between a router with a USB slot and the integrated ones (Vodafone R205), I'd go integrated. Less clunky and probably better battery life. Manufacturers also don't seem to support these routers very long, so getting a compatible modem is hit and miss on the newer models. Lastly for home use I'd rather opt for a device that can take an external antenna as coverage/signal is just going to degrade further.

What about Huawei E367, Vodafone E272, Vodafone K3570-Z? Included in firmware or known working? Yes, I have them all.

Vodafone E272, Vodafone K3570-Z Are both compatible.
My only HSPA+ modem (E367) is not compatible. Other very popular models not compatible. Consider rewriting this statement below (or post full compatibility list as reputable firms do).
99% of routers work. [...] So far the only incompatible modem we had was the Cell C Nokia and we have now added that to the Firmware.

You make a good point! So we have just added the compatibility list to our website: www.whizzyy.co.za

According to this list the ZTE MF190 is compatible? Did you guys release a firmware or something that I can download?

Thanks,
D

The MF190 is on the list but for some reason the South African one is not compatible. We are in the process of adding and it should be done by Monday. I will confirm.
