Who has tried Predros?

I walk past Pedros in Long Street everyday, they had a special on a whole chicken with rolls, sides and drinks for R140 the past week and I still walked past it.

Not a bad article but jeez these Nandos chips looks like Schit.

Pedros' best offer in our opinion is their on-going Viva special - full chicken with chips and 4 Portuguese rolls.

Great value, just watch out for 2 issues we've had in Norwood, Jo'burg;
1. They sometimes accidentally remove too much of the skin while grilling, which is the best part
2. Their sprinkle option is too light for the flavour, go for the basting option.

Never had Pedro's. The again it is so easy to make great chicken, even better than the take aways, at home, so we rarely will buy chicken take aways, rather burgers, pizza or chinese.

So these so-called “journalists” ordered mild?

Ordering mild at Nandos is like paying a hooker and then talking about your feelings. You don’t understand the product and you’re incapable of enjoying it.

It is cheaper to buy pedros full chicken than to grill a whole chicken at home in an oven.
Yes no. I bought whole chicken at R39,99/kg last week. Listening to how small those chickens at Pedro's are, that will work out at less than R50 a chicken, so no.

How much are the other ingredients, how much of gas/electricity would you use, and most importantly, how much is your time worth...

But all those electricity costs from an inefficient oven add up.
I only need to use my oven for chicken if I make a whole lot of other veg and stuff with it, Otherwise I can put it in my air fryer because my air fryer can actually fit a whole bog chicken and only uses 1400w. Then again my oven will not use that much to come close to Pedros or any other place's price.

This statement is discrimination against the spice disabled.

Met a few of them, if they part of the team, we can only eat bland if it is a team building thing.

What if you not at home, and need to eat something tasty and quick?

See, there can be various reasons for having takeaways, sometimes people just lus for it.

Pedro's

Very affordable and they have a lot of options. I like the whole chicken half and half. Half x-hot sprinkle and half x-hot basting. If I want rice I got for the strips or full chicken paella. I avoid the rolls because I think the salad they offer is a much better side to a grilled chicken.

That said. Mochahos full chicken Dynamite wins the spice rub taste. AMAZING! Not as affordable as Pedro's but costs less than Nando's so it's in the middle. I don't know when last I had Nando's it was a long time ago.

Well the 4 rolls would cost about R12? Chips R20? And Electricity about R2-R3. So much cheaper still.
My time? Well if you drive to get take aways then I will take less time to prepare it. Prep is just a few minutes, the time it takes to cook, does not consume my time. If you have it delivered then you pay much more.
