Who here eats Fish Paste?

I have a deep hatred for sardines, tin fish, anchovies, fish paste, fish soup. Simply makes me want to vomit.

I don’t even like tuna in cans.

So do you eat seafood at all? What about other foods in cans?
I have a bottle of pickled squid heads you could try!

No prawns, crab, mussels, squid, calamari...

Basically, I only like oysters, scallops (only since a few years), raw fish, grilled fish. My entire family loves seafood so I was always the odd one with his special good.

No issue with other foods in cans.

There ain't no gunk inside a sardine! Just mash it all up and away you go!. The bones are so soft they mash away and are high in calcium. The "gunk" is actually loaded with Omega -3 oil and vitamines.

This man eats sardine poop.

Not sure why people are pulling their noses up to sardines in a can.
Not so long ago you'd kill for some bugs and grubs in the bush, so don't come and act all holier-than-thou around here now!

All that stuff in the fish is what's good for you.

If you wanna complain about canned fish, try some Surströmming (canned fermented herring)...then let's talk again about how "bad" canned sardines are ;)

I just don't like the taste of a sardine, fresh or in a can.

I eat many things considered disgusting by some people (veal livers, lamb brain, kidneys...) but hate sardines and fish paste for the taste.

I do hate herring too by the way.

It's a Durban tradition to eat tinned fish sandwiches at the beach

I also discovered tinned fish curry for breakfast. Grossest moment of my life. :crylaugh:

It's not all that bad in a roti but the quality of tinned fish has gone down the drain. I get too many allergies from the pilchards.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away, kids did a thing called national service. Some of those kids spent months in the bush eating canned foods during basics... the same cans, day after day after day. Twenty years later, some of those kids still gag if anyone opens a can of Pilchards in tomato sauce near them.

Yeah, look, seafood (fish in particular) doesn't sound like your strong point, so you are forgiven :p
Nothing wrong with liver, brains or kidneys. It's just food at the end of the day.

I go through phases where I crave it then will go months without it.

My grandfather used to have fish paste on toast washed down with tea every morning for breakfast and when I stayed over during the school holidays I picked up on it.
