So SADV recently did our complex for ftth. Was just wondering, do they install the ONT devices or does the isp once we sign up?

So it'll only be installed once you actually order fibre from an ISP?SADV will install but via the ISP that you choose. If you choose SADV as your ISP they would install the ONT and supply the router.
If you choose another ISP then SADV will come and install the line and ONT and then the ISP will install or courier the router to you.
YesSo it'll only be installed once you actually order fibre from an ISP?
And if you move leave the ONT, and cancel/migrate your service to the new place. Its the polite thing to do

The ONT never belongs to the client, it still belongs to the service provider.I'm actually asking on behalf of the residents at the complex. I don't stay there myself. But I'll pass on the message.
That's what I said...As far as I'm aware you have to leave that ONT behind as it does not belong to you. Wonder what happens to people that does take it?
We will find you.As far as I'm aware you have to leave that ONT behind as it does not belong to you. Wonder what happens to people that does take it?
Actually, it's pointless taking the ONT with you when you move, first off, it doesn't belong to you, so there's that, and second, you can't do anything with it.
If you take the ONT with you, will the next person have to pay for installation again? And if you move leave the ONT, and cancel/migrate your service to the new place. Its the polite thing to do
If you take the ONT with you, you are stealing, as it belongs to the FNO and not you.If you take the ONT with you, will the next person have to pay for installation again?
What Pinball Wizard said.If you take the ONT with you, will the next person have to pay for installation again?
So does that ONT belong to you then or will you have to pass it onto the person you sell your place to?What Pinball Wizard said.
And both you, at your new place, and the new people at your old place will have to pay the full installation fees.
Think of it as paying it forward. As fibre one day becomes a more common occurance you will find you start moving into places with the fibre infrastructure in place already.
When we moved in Sept 2018 there was existing fibre already.
Oh I see. What happens if it breaks or lighting strikes it while in your "contractual period"?The ONT is actually a "fixture", like your TV antenna/Satellite dish, Pool cleaner, Stove (in Gauteng at least), light fittings, etc., which you leave behind when you sell/move.
