It seems I'm always pushing some sort of "Volunteer" issue on MyBB, well, this post is me at it again. :p

Please see below!

The MEC for Health, Qedabi Mathlangu, has called for volunteers to help out immediately. The department is co-ordinating this and the MEC says their safety will be taken care of. The Defence Force and police have apparently been deployed to hospitals and along the routes.

LEAD SA is encouraging people to volunteer. If listeners/readers want to assist at a hospital in their area, they need to SMS their names and contact number to any one of these numbers below. An official will call back and explain where volunteers need to report to.

LEAD SA says do the right thing. Stand up now. Volunteer your services. It could save a life.

Voluntary: Composition (often improvised) for a solo instrument (especially solo organ) and not a regular part of a religious service or musical performance

I might be taking this in the wrong context here but these here hospitals need improvised solo musical compositions that are not a regular part of a religious service or musical performance?

i was actually thinking about this on the way home from picking my girls up from school this afternoon. what if a whole lot of volunteers just rock up at the hospitals with the SADF protecting the volunteers. what can the strikers do. granted the most i could possibly do is take temps, answer the bed bell and call a nurse or doctor, but hey i could be there as an extra :)
 
Hey.... I've just realised what gdiza is on about. I drove past Edenvale Hospital on the way to work this morning and saw a whole lot of people wearing red shirts outside the entrance and wondered if the hospital was giving free drugs away or something... rewind to earlier this morning and I heard something about a strike blah blah blah something blah blah blah government blah blah blah on the radio. It all makes sense now... so the hospital wasn't actually giving free drugs away and those red shirt folks were on strike.

Hmmm...

Ok, apologies to gdiza - I honestly didn't know wtf you were on about. ...and NO, I'm not retarded, I just don't pay attention to wtf is going on. I blame the rats in my roof that keep me awake most of the night.
 
marty you should have gone back and joined the queue.... you never know it could have been LSD or something they were dishing out lol

I think anyone who puts their hand up for this, goes and does it will have a new respect for the people who are striking as the conditions they work under, really does suck (especially Government hospitals) and no one can say anything unless you've been there and seen it (and I have)

I got a call back from a woman on an unknown nr. She asked me if I still wanted to help and that I must just go to my closest hospital. I called the nearest one ( just pitching up didn't sound like a good idea). Nearest hospital told me they are fine today, but left my name and number if they need someone over the weekend.
 
Would if I did not leave work every night between 6 to 7 pm (then still have to feed family/dogs/pig, clean house and get ready for the next days work).

Didn't even click, thought they were on strike again (so used to this time of year = unpaid dance party leave).
 
I am an amateur gynea (experience from mostly touch-and-feel, stab in the dark, etc)

Maybe I should volunteer....
