OK I need isp recommendations. I signed up with Afrihost (Octotel fibre) three weeks ago, and have just canceled because 1. Never connected to internet and 2. Technical support is non-existent and rubbish.

I've been lurking this forum/Hello Peter and I can't seem to find a isp which at very least provides good support in addition to decent connectivity.

Can anyone recommend a decent devil at least? And if you dare suggest Afrihost I will throw a virtual shoe at you. I'm done with that company.
 
Same here. I need an ISP (Vumatel fibre) as well. Right now I am looking at Webafrica and Cell-C - although I have heard that all traffic for Cell-C is routed via JHB.

There are a lot of complaints (albeit from a handful of people) about CI and Octotel.. so perhaps check into that.
That said, I'm on MTN with Cool Ideas, have been for around a year and it's been great 99.9% of the time. Support tickets do take a while to get answered but they have reps on MyBB who are responsive.

Happy only I was happy with supersonic only moved to try the 1gbps line and 3 months free was hard to resist
That said
Macrolan and Websquad have been killing it recently especially by mybb users
My Bro in law recently signed up with websquad and was amazed by their customer service (and he works for Nokia who run the fibre activations etc for Vodacom)
 
Cool ideas or rocketnet(friend is happy with RN while I'm fairly happy with CI)
 
I've been using Atomic Access, also on Octotel, they have been pretty decent. Been getting 11-12 Mb download on my 10Mb line, haven't seen stuttering at peak times yet. PM me if you want a referral.

Once you get an Openserve line you will never look back. Pricing stings a bit but AAA quality fibre.

As for OP yeah Octotel....

I have a serious disliking of Afrihost, Webafrica and Mweb. Most of the others like Cool Ideas, Supersonic, Websquad, Home connect, Macrolan, Cfibre, Atomic access ect ect is all good. Quality networks even though you can still find them drop the ball on support the networks are usually really good.

My sentiment matches yours. Like I said, when the Openserve FTTH is here, I will go with Cool Ideas again.
