Wholesale telecom services matter

New Broadband or National Broadband
previous discussions centered on a National Broadband Network - NBN - which was presented in a broken fashion as both a wholesale backbone and as a end user broadband service (to talk about a wholesale network as broadband is mischievous)

I'll double check the submissions and policy documents from 2011 and 2013 but this is the first time I am seeing N standing for New and it has massive implications - and wasteful expenditure actually - and I really don't understand what BMI-t are angling at. Especially in light of the new PT ministry

First I hear of "New"...

clearly it is something new :D

This really is worrying me, I expect an announcement of a massive construction project of a "new" state owned network ... because Infraco is already "old"

okay so no announcements come from PT to build a yet another network:
There are several examples of countries (including Australia, Singapore, Malaysia and Brazil) where the government has taken the initiative to stimulate the development of a new national broadband network, which it partly funds, and/or new broadband access networks that will in principle be available to all service providers on an open-access, wholesale basis.
