Yeah lets eat more food and products manufactured in a lab by a chemical company.
Like my doc says and we wonder why cancer and extreme allergic cases are on the increase.
Lets not forget the meat we eat laced with hormones and steroids and whatever else we dont know about.....

And just like with cigarettes it will take decades for us to know (or admit) the real effect. It's already known that a lot of GMOs have nutrient deficiencies. The real problem in African countries is also not a problem with growing crops.

These claims should always be taken with a grain of salt. Yeah we did domesticate maize but that's only half the story. Just like the banana story where if you do proper research you'll find that the domestic and wild banana are two different species that always existed in nature, but it's often misrepresented as us creating a new species.

There some GMOs much more nutrient dense than standard crop. The veg found to less nutrient dense weren't really GMOs they were crops bred for size and aesthetics.

There seems to be a law in the universe that you can't have it all. Measure speed accurately and you lose position. Seems to be the same with GMOs. The ones that can withstand adverse weather and insect plagues usually contain less nutrients. Those that are nutrient rich aren't very good to grow.

The trend of larger less nutrient dense crop been around before GMOs became mainstream, there were cases where they tried to make those types of crops more nutrient dense. Then there are cases where staple foods like rice where they fortify them.

I think the thinking with the drought resistant crop their thinking is less nutrition is better than no nutrition.

Well yes in maize, soybeans, cotton and maybe alfalfa for animals. There are other GMO crops but a lot aren't used all over the world.
Also they do not cause cancer, they are not causing allergies, they are not less nutrient and they are not seedless. They also use less pesticides or fertilizers then regular crops, yes btw organic uses both and they aren't any better then their non-organic kind.
Stop bashing on science and let humanity grow, I mean why in the most freaking advanced era of humanity are we regressing? Anti-vaccines, anti-gmo, anti this anti that. Is it because you watched a documentary on Netflix or Youtube?

Golden rice was cancelled due to a massive backlash from the anti-gmo crew. Apparently fortified rice for the starving can't be had because the privileged bashed their drums louder then the empty tummies of the starving growled.

I have no problems with GMOs as a cheap staple for poor people that don't know any better. If it makes you happy, do it.

Bottom line is Africa is a dumping ground for these massive chemical companies. If you think we are eating the same food we ate 50 years ago, you are mistaken.
Our foods are full of chemicals - from spraying, hormones, steroids and whatever else they put into it

There is a lot of ignorance in this thread.

Watch this.

Exactly the same thing my pharmacist is saying. The amount of people, irrespective of age, that he is seeing... that are fighting cancer is alarming.

In 2012, there were an estimated 626 400 new cases of cancer and 447 700 deaths from cancer in the region. The World Health Organization projects that by 2030, close to 1 million people will die of cancer each year in sub-Saharan Africa. For every four people who die of HIV/AIDS, there will be three who die of cancer2.

It is also expensive. Big farms can afford it, but it is most certainly not the solution for Africa, with it's mainly substance farmers.

Because they don't, they've been around 20 years there is more research and I don't know what's up with you conspiracy nuts and thinking the world is out to get you, but it's not. In fact in the last 100 years the human population has gotten stronger, we have people living longer, babies and mothers making it passed child birth, less mass famines, less everything that was bad. Until recently when suddenly people started hoping on to the anti-science brigade.
Yes cancer has seemed to be on the rise, this is due to better screening techniques, unfortunately pollution plays a big role in it as well. Allergies have been actually shown to possibly be linked to a few things, one of them is the rise of the overly cautious and clean environments and the odd belief of parents introducing certain foods to kids later then they should and also pollution again. If you want to blame these things on anything it's pollution.

Correct..test GMO...long term study on populace ....same breath, if cancer pops up, can test new generation treatment on populace.

So what you're saying is that the companies are using Africa as a testing ground? WTF!!!! We've had GMO Maize for over 20 years, in fact it's almost 30 years now in South Africa if cancer was caused by it you'd see a large swing towards the poorer communities dying of it, yet instead you actually see one demographic still being overly high in the cancer rates in SA (I'm talking demographics here).
