I haven't had an IOs device for quite a while but I do remember the apps being ridiculously large, I helped someone update WhatsApp today on an old iPhone 4s and the app is 168mb vs on my Android phone the latest WhatsApp is 60mb?

When you update it isn't the full 168MB, if the developer has allows partial updates then you only get the changed files. A full install will be a full install though.

But yes, 168MB for something that just sends and receives messages is ludicrous.

I'm just comparing the native app size 60mb vs 168MB for the same app just different platform, the massive size diff doesn't make sense.
