Why are PC users so hung up?

Bwhahahaha okay i feel like an absolute retard now.

I had no idea! I don't have a trackpad unfortunately but will use the ctrl and click in future :)

THANKS!!!! :D
What have you been using?

wow, and you can't even quote properly, or do basic maths.

2/3 + 1/2 = 7/6

Eish, typo. 2/3 Linux, 1/3 Win+Sol. And no, I don't use it just to watch. I use it for developing scripts I use in my work, I use it for connecting to machines to do a variety of things (Mac does the windows and unix protocols natively, so it's very convenient), a lot of the software we run on servers (I deal mostly with the Linux and Solaris machines) runs natively on the Mac, so that gives me a great test environment to try stuff out before throwing it onto customers' servers.

Macs are good for much more than the stuff the advertising concentrates on.

^ I still have a pre Mighty Mouse one button mouse, never use it though. Like the one picture one page back.

Having been introduced to Mac in the last 2 years...

I can say this for myself.. I am a windows power user.. I can do everything I need on a windows box and also know enough about linux to admin a box or 2...

MacOs befuddles me... everything is so hidden from the users.. that said the macbook air is the perfect notebook for me as I have a powerful PC for coding and stuff...

In the end... It would just take to long for me a learn a new OS as well as I know the MS ones..... looking at getting a macbook air this weekend with the specials and installing vista

Mac OS X is very easy to learn, especially if you're a power user. Expose rocks, you will love it.

The biggest change is that, if you have a file selected, and you push enter, it renames it, instead of launching it.

My current exposure to Mac is supporting 3 of them (my house mates) so i only really see them when they have problems... so i might be a bit bias..

I my admit that my impression of a MacOS is probally due to my lack of knowledge..

I can find a terminal/shell/cmd where I can check things... like ip addresses, services running..

Cant?

Terminal is applications/utilities/terminal.app - or just type terminal into the spotlight. Or there is the network utility (/applications/utilities/network utilities)

It's easier to download a app called iStat and get all that info.

You know whenever I take my MacBook Air to the coffee shop

You can stop there.

Normal people don't use computers in a coffee shop. A lot of them are probably in a coffee shop to get away from their work, pr0n, and silly message boards. :p

Very funny post, PeterCH. :)

Speak for yourself dude, that's the only time I get to do personal stuff without getting interrupted.

you're kidding.

enter = rename??? rename ?!?!?!?

/feels sick

I cant fig why ppl hate this - I like it personally. You did just point to the item with your mouse did you not? Why then would you prefer to remove your hand from the mouse and use Enter to launch/open the item when a simple twitch of the index finger will do?

Me too. It's much quicker when you want to rename a bunch of files, for example. Besides, most people who use their machines to do real work, open a few apps and leave them open, so this shouldn't really matter.
