Why Cell C is making its broadband network even faster

Like the guy who thought it was R500 for 5Gig ;) I think you are reading too fast.

The point of the article and what Lars Reichelt is saying - is that in the real-world people will not see 42/43mbps, but the upgraded cells will enable more people to have a 'better experience'. (5mbps steady & rising over time).

BTW this is the same message coming from Vodacom!

Now what about those other operators - MTN & 8ta - I wonder what their strategy is. Do they know what a strategy is? :D
 
the worg 8ta and strategy does not go together. they will aways be 29 steps behind the rest. my hope is in neotel......fec cannot belief i said it but i did. so flame away.... :) as soon as they have access to the copper things will change....

But now they are a force to be reckoned with, and Vodacom in particular, are sitting up and taking notice. I have been with Cell C for 6 months on 5GB monthly data from Richards Bay, and am now considering giving up my home ADSL line, to buy a second 5GB per month data deal with Cell C.
I am hoping they will bring 42mbps to Richards Bay soon - they only need to upgrade 3 towers, and that will cover the entire city :D

You know that's one thing I wish Cell C would allow me to do

Add another 5 Gig at the same price to my already existing speed stick, I would love to make it a 10 gig so I dont have to swap out sim cards when the one is done.

Cell C likes to keep things as simple as possible for the consumer, and yes it might be a bit of effort on your part, but what you see is what you get.

Unlike Vodacon who likes to confuse the crap out of their clients and hope no one reads the T&C on their products and suprise them with a nice bill at the end of the month.

@Beri you must be your own man - never mind what others say. I use Neotel for telephony now and I am getting excellent value for money. If I wanted ADSL then I would have to pay Telkom for a line - which I have declined to do simply because as I refuse to pay extra to have ADSL enabled!! Neotel isn't for everyone, but that doesn't make it bad. Also their call centre is a lot better these days. I guess seeing all those staff retrenched focussed their minds a bit!

For the future - yes I think Neotel may yet surprise those old farts at Telkom....

I'm also on mweb uncapped.... I'm doing 50 gigs a month on the 512 package. The speed just gets to me.
 
So I have the 2GB package with max speeds of 7.2Mpbs, when this upgrade reaches CT I suppose my speeds will increase (from the general +-1Mbps to maybe 3 or 4) however not overtake 7.2Mbps right?
 
I wanted to get a Cell C contract, the only reason I didn't was that Cell C didn't have the phone I wanted - HTC Desire HD.
So now I'm on a Vodacon contract instead.

It would be great having a smart phone on a Cell C data contract, but they need to get some better phones.
I just searched on their site for HTC and all I found was the HD2 - a Windows phone :sick:

I hope Cell C fixes this soon.
