why do cell providers not zero rate bank sites?

and if you think about it, i spend more having having data than not having it

from a business perspective, what is a bank losing paying a cell provider some some money for a user to buy data? say 1mb per userr.

I think you are too defensive on this idea. This is a win win, you get airtime\data income, and the bank gets services charges. Can't see why this is a bad idea.

Who is paying for it? It will be a service provider headache to manage banking apps, url's, VPN's and development to implement for 3rd parties....

All your bank needs to do is use a service such as blue label communications and pay the bills. Of course it takes a bit more work to implement and maintain url's.

All the big banks already do this.

Entitlement never leads to solutions.

Agreed. It’s their job to provide services to their clients. That’s what we as clients/customers pay them for. FNB has been providing this service since 2017.

The customer is paying for it through airtime/Data purchases and bank fees on the transaction.

Make it easy for your customer to give you the monies.

FNB has zero rated data, I am on Voda.

Whatever deal they have going, good on them.

But Im not expecting all ISPs to suddenly zero rate data for certain services.
It does make business sense to zero rate banking apps.

Allowing the customer access to his bank means he can recharge without having data in credit, which in turn results in an increase in the bottom line.

My primary network is TM (MTN as backup for when I'm in the bundus) and I can use the Standard Bank app regardless of whether I have data.

I don't think the banks own the networks? Not particular important for me at all, but I can see the logic behind it.
Uhm.... But the major banks ARE zero rated. It's up to the bank, not the network.

Why do the banks have to own a network to be zero rated. And why must networks take up the task to zero rate banks.

That's just dumb. There is zero logic in this thinking.

There is nothing that stop a bank from being Zero rated except themselves.

Is there a way to transfer movies with the FNB app? :P

Why does your bank not allow zero rates using their app?

Why must your cell provider take responsibility for your bank?

Typical Africa entitlement.

FNB, Absa and Capitec is zero rated using their app.
Std Bank App on Telkom works when I have no money or data.
