Why do hackers hack?

Regarding the attack on programmers that suddenly just fell out of the clear blue sky ... i have a friend who studied networking and Csharp and something else at CTI . He now fiddles about on his pc and sends me the programs via flashdisk , i test them and report to him whats wrong and what could be improvement if possible. this one appy he made , lets you que up a few programs if you have a daily routine ..
swtich on pc , emails , firefox browsing, cod4. so i can check my emails and browse firefox and when i close firefox it automatically opens cod4 mp . makes life a little easier even if its just as easy as doing it manually blah blah ... programmers who are BORED , and dont have work go to the darkside. my friend is good programmer and he doesnt even think twice about cracking/hacking. coz he knows what happens if you get caught.
as for crackers , sure its great that you can install your original game and then use a crack because you surely dont want to scratch a R399 - R599 dvd .
They should make Cracks cd key specific . that way if you have an original , you can use the crack assigned and nobody else can steal it. (online verification + cdkey)

That defeats the point of the scene....
what do you mean ? im merely stating that the crack gets registered when you install the game so you dont have to put in the dvd for authentication later (when you want to play again) saving you wear and tear on the dvd , and that online verification can help inforce this so that the same crack cant be abused.
haha this is just another form of DRM... next thing they'll be cracking cracks?? granted this way is better than anything available now... I'd say, when you install the game you go online type in your cd key and then it lets you download a custom compiled exe to launch the game. Could be feasible

The problem usually ends up being the 'getting caught' part
yes that is a perfectly good idea, but the point of the scene is to beat the DRM, totally, if a group did that then they would get no credit
Not if you Hack into the wireless Telkom tower then put a wireless acces point between the telkom tower and your PC,then it's just a matter of changing the DNS server and the default gateway and you are in.
P.S you might want more than one bounced link just in case they catch on.
