Why do ppl do this ?

These are fashion statements. Immature ones at that.

And so, good sense has very little to do with it. The young are often enough fixated on singular expressions of conformity/superiority. Something they saw growing up, which they were terribly impressed with in the moment, and which they've assumed against all logic to be ultra-important for fitting in and getting lucky. It's very normal. The sad part is when fully grown adults (i.e. 35'ish+) still continue on as is, out of a failure to grow up and learn anything useful in life.

I think it's great they do this.
I mean it's relatively straight forward why isn't it? They like how it looks, they want to stand out from the crowd, expressing themselves. Or, well, just cos.
Isn't that one of the best things of motoring? It's for everyone, rich, not so rich, you can take your citi golf or s class and just make it a bit of your own - rims, ride, spoilers, filters, exhausts, whatever.
In a world of white Toyotas (I own a white Toyota) and silver Audis, where we all look the same and dress the same, be the guy with an orange, spoilered, lowered, sub woofered C class.
my car in STOCK form... noting the suspension is from 1988 when life was about Grand touring the country side and spongy suspensions so you feel like you're driving a lounge.

Stock Supra.jpg

Have made some tweaks over the years.
17" wheels (Forged lightweight), and a slight drop for better looks and handling.

Most recent change, 18" Work Wheels.
Just ordered coilovers From Ultra Racing, because, even with the current drop, the springs and shocks are still too soft. With proper Coilovers I can dial in the perfect settings for Track/mountain/Street.

@OP, I have no plans to add a "wang" or anything drastic, but sometimes RICE (Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements) have exactly that effect, they're enhancements. You will (almost) never find a FACTORY STOCK car at the track. Because cars sold at dealerships are not meant for track racing.
I can't speak for tthe 2 pics OP posted, but there are many of us Car Enthusiasts who do improve our cars with aftermarket stuffs for our own enjoyment.

Damn!

Wait a minute... ek soek nie `n fight nie, but are those fogs angled upwards?

Because their money, their car.

Germans and Japanese also do stupid things.

Except that if you do modify a car in Germany, you need an engineer's report before it can be driven. Aussie is the same.

My SC exhaust makes my bike less efficient and it is much noisier. I can't throw stones.

Funnily enough with all the Euro bullshit I’ve found on my last three bikes it actually improved fuel economy.

But back in the day on my GSX-R600 it definitely made it heavier.

What about the guys who drive with a microfiber cloth hanging from the boot? Why? 🙊
Havent seen that. But probably their version of a Mechanic walking around with a rag in their back pocket?
Most guys when they arrive at a car show, give their cars a wipe down. Car would have had a ceramic coat done in prep for the car show, so wiping the dust off that accumulated en route there. But leaving the cloth hanging out the boot purposefully is just doff.

I have seen lots of golfers do it, cloths/towels are wet after a round so they hang them out the boot to dry.

Full BRAAAAP on my Monster puts Harleys to shame. The amount or crackle and pop is definitely not economical, but it is fun and embarrassing in equal measure if I'm honest. You only live once. May as well set off some car alarms while you're still here I guess?
