Why do some websites work

Hi.

I'm confused ... I can access almost any website at the moment, but I can't get into two that I want to access ... 1 of which is google ... it will probably work later, but what could be the reason ... and can ping them perfectly ... and I doubt their server is down

What area are you in? I know someone in the Bryanston/Fourways area that is experiencing that same problem. His Internet Explorer SOMETIMES works on google though. Firefox never

I'm by Melrose Arch near Rosebank. I'm using firefox ... and I'm using iBurst. Its not only google .. here is another example while I was trying to see an online shop system: http://shopmedpro.com/store/index.php/service-request/arizona-service-request ... wonder why its doing that ... whats the common feature with these sites that isn't working ?

Is it nothing to do with MTU settings?

I had a problem whereby i could access everything but MSN and Hotmail sites etc..

Then i realise it was my MTU set to 1432 when it should be 1492..

It only started happening just now ... couple of hours ago everything was perfect

I just had to have my ISP reset my connection because there was some hiccup on Telscums side ...... maybe something similar for you?
