Why do they show Excl vat?

So I am going to buy a bunch of stuff from Germany, but now I wanna know why do they the excl vat prices, why not just show me the full price?

Maybe because they are not an SA business...?

Maybe you should find out about the import duties/taxes, payable here....
 
Sorry for being an idiot, im just not clued up when it comes to things like this :/
 
Because export sales are VAT exempt in Germany, but you will pay 14% local vat + duties when the goods arrive. Ask for an invoive at 50% of the goods value to save a bit.
 
your typical vat for most import goods is [purchase price * 1.1 + customs duty] * 14/114 not 100 percent sure about the formula though if customs duty also multiplied by the 10% or not though. also the 10% is not set in stone and may be adjusted for different goods.

by law all prices should be displayed with vat GTiDon in south africa compared to USA where not tax needs to be displayed. DO you honestly think the likes of the retailers would put vat onto there display prices if they never had to?
 
Yes, that ^^^^^. The yprice you see is the price you pay. Exclusions are goods sold on auction, services rendered to name a few.
