Hi
After getting THREE confirmations from DIFFERENT PEOPLE that the ‘project’ my application was assigned to had indeed been completed, and that it had been escalated to the scheduling department, I got a phone call on the 18th September from the scheduling department to schedule a date to send a technician through to finalize the install of my ADSL line. We arranged 21st September as the date. Imagine my joy at the thought of finally get the ADSL line installed.
Once again, I took time off work today, and waited for the technician to phone me. I eventually phoned the scheduling department and asked what was happening as the technician had still not called me. The person I spoke to (who turned out to be the SAME person who phoned me on the 18th to arrange the date to meet the technician) checked on the computer and saw that they could NOT send a technician through to finalize the install, because the application was still in ‘hand back’. Whatever that means and ‘hand back’ from which department to which other department, she could not tell me. So once again, Telkom has wasted my time for no good reason, except pure inefficiency and incompetence.
I am tempted to ask you to explain how a time can be scheduled when the line is not ready to be installed (for the SECOND TIME), how this time can be scheduled by the same person that in 3 days time then tells me that there is a problem and that they cannot send a technician, and WHEN this application will FINALLY be complete, but I don’t see the point, as there is almost no chance that I will get a reply.
I will admit that my other ADSL installation (in Pretoria) went through more or less (but not completely) without a hitch, and for that I am grateful. However, the frustration, anger and sense of futility caused by the endless delays, excuses, miscommunication, lack of communication, wasting of my time meeting people at my premises for no good reason and getting different stories from different people FAR outweigh that gratefulness.
With all of that said, I wish you a restful long weekend, while I have to once again spend unnecessary time at the office doing work that I should (in theory – if I could get an ADSL line installed) be able to do from home.
Best regards
