This is in relation to the Oprah Winfrey story. Here a person from over see’s is willing to take a leap of faith and is willing to invest in out country and what do we do in return?

I am most amazed with Oprah's handling of the situation. She took responsibility and said the buck stopped with her, even though I believe she should not be responsible for anything other than trying to make a difference and shedding a positive light. I have a new found respect for her, she is not just looking for a quick PR exercise by helping out Africa’s children, she appears to back up her convictions with more than money, her actions and emotions display she genuinely cares.

Our message to anyone who wants to invest in our country's future is, "Bring your money and take our crap". This place is so lucky that Oprah does not have my heart, and I would have said "Bugger this, there are other places that need my help".

It saddens me that a place of safety and learning for bright girls was turned into an alleged underage brothel. These girls are groomed to be our future leaders, the untold damages that could potentially have been inflicted upon these girls and scar’d them for life we will never know.

It comes as no suprise... anything given for free will be abused...

I mean come on, this is SA... it wasn't for free...

I reserve judgement till the full story is known.
I also don't like the way the media and some people generalize everything into a bowl of yucky muddy doom.

In my view, this is a group of girls and their victory over oppression and abuse.
They will give others in a similar situation hope and courage.

IF THIS WAS MARKETED LIKE THAT, but .. it's being marketed negatively.

Really? I hadn't read that.

What exactly are the allegations and all.

I just heard that some cr@p hit the fan, but little else about what that cr@p is.

Can you imagine how Oprah sh*t on this dude's head, would love to have been a fly on the wall.

This news has made headlines here on New Zealand TV, really sad about SA everything going wrong at the moment.

No, I think you're wrong in so far as the buck does stop with her.

Kudos for taking responsibility Oprah, its refreshing.

C'mon its not fair to blame south africa for this. This kind of thing happens all over the world. Blame the individual who caused it. It just happens to be Oprahs School thats why its a fiasco.

How many times have children been subjected to the same thing in the USA ... plenty times... so its not a matter of "us" stuffing up. Its just an individual at a high profile school.

Perhaps like Nasa needs to check out their astronauts schools should check out their teachers before hand.

I agree that we cannot blame all South Africans, most are good decent people. As always we have the rotten apples.

What makes me upset is what occurred, how it occurred and to whom it occurred. I don’t think there is much dispute that Oprah has to be once of the most powerful woman in the world, her influence can make or break any aid that we can potentially receive. The fact is that what happened has far reaching implications and almost certainly raised a few questions in the international community on aiding South Africa. Why would anyone want their names associated with a country where your good dead turns around to bite you?

I feel ashamed that no one in this country stood up and took responsibility. I saw the broadcast from the USA where Oprah said the "buck stops with me". Why, she did absolutely nothing wrong.

Again, most of us are good people, I only pray that if there was wrong doing we condemn it publicly for the world to see.

The answer is simple.

Many Americans and Europeans are not aware of the term TIA.
Oprah is (now was!) one of them.
