Why does airtime/date expire?

The only good reason to take a contract is, if you can't afford the phone cash. Or if you actually manage to find a contract where you do score.
Dion wired had one for their birthday special, R149 a month for a R3k phone, vr headset and R110 airtime. Yes I know the airtime only really equates to R79 or so, but the other R70 for the phone a month bargain.
Yes if you can find a bargain it's worth it. In all normal cases contract is usually more expensive.

You do find some contracts where you come off better than prepaid. My current one is R199 for a Huawei P8 lite, 100 minutes and 1gb per month. My previous one was R169 for a Samsung S3 mini, 100 minutes and 5gb per month. Both were with 8ta/Telkom Mobile/Telkom.
