Why doesn't anyone have stock????

U just'd missed a auction on Bidorbuy, it was a LG 19" widescreen monitor that sold for about R1800.00, ended last night.

LG is a good choice, even if your gaurentee ends they have a free service every year for any LG out of warranty products.

If it's the LG L19WT then I feel sorry the person than won the bid...it's not a very good LCD at all. The TN panel used in the 19" version sucks very badly and I've yet to see a good review of it.

It must be hard for the dealers to get stock when many of the distributors are also closed during this time... just something to think about ;)

Most stock will only arrive at suppliers in the next 4 weeks.

Most of my suppliers are telling me that items they don't have in stock will only arrive early Feb.

As for your comment tibby.dude not keeping stock for profits is not entirely true. I have over 3000+ products available to me to sell. There is no way I can stock everything and there is no way you can estimate who wants what.

Just remember that :)

PS I am just using myself as an example above. Maybe other shops do what you said :)

I do wish SA's love affair with Summer holidays would come to an end, esp in the IT industry. Given half a chance, Police, Hospitals, Hotels and supermarkets would close for the holidays

One of the biggest retail events in South Africa, cash is flowing everywhere, people have bonuses and they want to spend

Now it is often said that the Wholesale IT industry closes before Christmas, so the spending wave would have hit and it is up to shops to stock up on what they need to sell. I did a check and most Wholesalers Closed on Friday Dec 22 and re-opened Jan 2 (I did encounter two places in IT that closed until 8 Jan)

So this means that the IT Wholesale is only closed for a week and a bit, and it does give a lot of businesses were people cannot take leave because the business would fall apart, a break.

HOWEVER - It is a time of the year when a lot of people do take leave, so even when places do open up they are not firing on all cylinders. Stock levels are low or sold out. If New Year falls on a Wednesday, there's always the temptation to close for that week as well

It is a bad time of year in many ways, IT stock is well known to drop in value, so you never want to keep too much. Closing for a week and a day (at best) does not help. February is around the corner, this is financial year end, Wholesalers might want to keep stock levels down and pay out profits rather than be taxed on them, after all who would want to buy stock now...

well maybe those that have under spent their budgets, or those that need to purchase Computers and stuff to convert taxable income into office items that can be written off over a number of years, and go towards your VAT input - What can I tell you, business is a crazy world, there are deals going on all the time - Month end might be 25th for a lot of people, but others get paid at the end of the month, Government employees get paid on the 15th... When the people have spent it then the shopkeepers have got it and so it goes, as long as money is there, there is always a bus to catch
