Why dont cellular stores allow you try test a phone?

Best thing is to search for reviews on the internet, you'll get more info than you would get by trying it for a few minutes in some store anyway. You can even search for videos on Youtube if you want to see what using it is like.

Vodaworld in Midrand has several stores which allow for testing of their mobile phones.

Yeah was thinking about this the other day. Vodaworld is like the only place... Think the smaller stores are all just too cheap to get real phones available for testing. Those plastic ones are pretty pointless. On the other hand a quick 5 minute test doesn't reveal too much.

Im actually quite annoyed by this... when shopping around for phones in this country, why does no vodacom or mtn seller allow you to test a phone? All they ever have are those crappy dummy phones. The only phone that it seems we can test is the iPhone?

Hi Ushir, we tried to have live units in one of our stores, after having 8 stolen in a period of 2 months, its not viable for the stores to run the risk. We currently have 7 Samsung kiosk's in various stores and we lose about one phone every 2 weeks from these kiosk's, even with the phones being secured by metal clamps.

Would be great to have live demo's in store, but unfortunately crime ruins it for all.

Hectic... How do they get them off the metal clamps?

true, i was able to try out phones at vodaworld when upgrading my contract. Tried the hero and iphone and based on on 15 min run on each device i found the hero more intuitive to use although the iphone was blazingly fast..thus i got the hero (currently 2 days old :) )

The lab88 store clerks were quite helpfull as compared to the iStore

hey crazy cat, come hang with us on the android thread :) welcome to android !

my hero is now faster than my old iphone 3g and my friends 3gs
