Why DStv cannot offer individual channels

If you read the article and understand it, you would understand. Even your a'la carte menu items is bundled with something to increase the price and value, even if you did not want it. You cannot walk into Spur and say you just want to pay for the Steak and not the chips and onion rings.
That is fine.

But what Multichoice is forcing people to do, is not only buy the Steak and Chips, they have to buy 2 burgers, Nachos, what passes for salads and dessert as well, when they only wanted Steak and Chips. And then Multichoice complains that people would rather just not buy the whole thing. It isn't good value for money to bundle in lots of things people don't want.

Their argument might apply to other channels, but there is no reason why they cannot provide a sports only bundle, because they own the company that produces most of the content. And even more so, they should have a pay per view and season passes for sport. South Africans would lap that stuff up.

Right now their model is failing. Multichoice is haemorrhaging money.

So Spur and every other restaurant should close because they are not run the way you two geniuses think they should be run?

Spur, DSTV, and any other business has a basic issue.

They have to get me to walk in thru their door, and into their emporium.

If they cannot do that, they are not going to get my money. That simple - if they cannot do that, they have failed. End of story. No further discussion.

If you take away the sport from dstv it is just a few old movies and series, just like Netflix and Disney. Thats worth about R100-R200 a month.
So will you and the rest be happy paying R700-R800 a month for sport only package? I am sure their was a poll sometime on how much people would pay for sport only and that was not close to that figures.

To offer steak as an exclusive option for their customers.
OK so please show as these exclusive one sport option in the rest of the world that is successful? I am sure the whole world is doing it for every sport as you claim that is the best option.

You not looked at India, I presume - not part of your world.

You have clearly not done your homework.

And no, I am not going to do your homework for you either

I don't have to show you anything. If DSTV don't want to adapt then they will die.....

Also, DSTV can lead for once.

Please we trying to have an adult argument. Show us. Give us a link where we can get all the different sports in single packages and see what the prices are so we can discuss it

Your half baked, baseless twatwaffle - adult - please.

F1 TV is one you should be familiar with, in India there are others, in China as well, but that is a bridge to far for you.

I told, you I am not going to do your homework for you - so ho do your due diligence.

You can get sports packages, yhat are stand alone. They might not have your "all sports holy grail", but they support their market, and yhrir market, supports them, and that is all that matters.

They have other channels like Mnet that likely cost a pretty penny.

SA rugby is arguably the strongest and most popular it has ever been in the country, it has broken into new demographics. There are literally millions of people who would want to watch that content. Instead of finding a way to tap into this new market of potential subscribers, Multichoice has done nothing but try sell the same shyte they have been selling for 30 years.

And it hasn't worked. At a time when the Boks are at the strongest they have ever been and are watched by so many people that the politicians are getting involved to try and open it up, Multichoice, the people who stand to make the most amount of money are losing money.

If that isn't a signal that their pricing and product line up is broken, then nothing would be.

LOL insults, the mark of an adult argument.
F1tv is one subscription for a single championship that runs a whole year. It will cost you around R120 a month. Motogp is 3-4 times that price.
So now a motorsport fan have 2 motorsport championships for close to R500. Where is the Dakar, the le mans the touring cars and the rest that dstv offer for a motorsport fan?
You want to watch rugby or only Curriecup?
