Long story short. I been with rain in pietermaritzburg for little over 2 years. And in that time ive tested 3 sim cards from them (3 different accounts) Just to check and see if they do it to only one account.(Or if its an overall opinion.)
Now disclaimer this is my opinion and id rather not let you base your decisions on my opinions.
Anyways different devices, different packages (250 and 479 ) both uncapped . Let me to this conclusion. Your speed can never get over 1.2 mbs . They sell you uncapped. At a cost of slow speed.
Tested it in the middle of town by labour dept. Tested it at Edendale mall and surrounding areas, tested it in durban central. Tested it at Ribco Scottsville (where our company has one of our rib shops). Ashburton, lynnfield park.
It was the worse in the middle of town. Various times, from morning to evening. No speed. But i bet you thinking , chris,
its your devices. Restart it.
I run a samsung a32 . That thing is designed for 4g and 5 g. With 2 sim cards inside.
Restart se moses. (afrikaans. go look it up)
Anyways. My brother in law and i both agreed that what you pay for is not what you get. They saturated their network with too many people and when i received the call this morning,
"Mr De Wet, why are you cancelling"
I told them everything that i am telling you guys. Telkom, Cell c and Rain. Take it with a pinch of salt. If you going to ONLY watch youtube and not do emails , not do downloads, not do surfing (Dammnit i cannot type this with a straight face). Then maybe this is worth it.
Anyways long story short. Found Nico and Electrocom in pietermaritzburg. Via a friend. First day testing, we put their network through its paces. By far better than rain.
I am sorry rain, but you really should understand that what you peddling as a network is not sustainable. What i do want to know is this. Why why where you prejudiced and always had great signal at Edendale area???
As douglas adams says in his books, "So long and thank you for all the fish."
