Not really, and yet maybe.
I have been a Linux user for many a moon, and Android does not really feature Linux well. Linux is there somewhere (the kernel, if you know what that is) but the applications, user interface and general usability... that is open for debate (Linux is much more open than Android, etc.)
Things I like about Linux, and what Android have in common:
* The app stores/repositories - I do not have to hunt down, search for a download link, download and install an application. All I need to do is to select it in a package manager, click install and presto! I cannot believe Microsoft is still in the dark ages regarding this, it is just so effortless. If there are still smart phone vendors that do not feature this then they need to die out like the dinosaurs.
* Choice - you can theme the heck out of Linux and Android and make it truly unique. An iPhone is an iPhone, but look at the screen shot thread in any Linux and Android forum and you can see just what you can do. Similarly I can install just what I want. There are so many different ROMS that cater for so many features, same in Linux, there is a mountain of choice. This can be daunting for the newbie, but exciting since it only costs you the download of an ISO, same with ROMS.
We can debate this further, it is late (or early) and I'm struggling to form coherent sentences.
