Why I prefer Opera

What I love about FireFox is the automatic updates. But when it comes to just browsing there is nothing like Opera. It's crazy how much bandwidth is wasted when a page reloads on 'back'.

I use Opera (mainly because Firefox SUCKS on Linux), and it is really starting to annoy me. Every time I type a URL in the address bar it freezes up for a good 30 seconds before completing the address I have typed in. As you can imagine this would start to drive one insane after a while.

Maybe I should just go back to Konqueror.

Firefox is a star for me in linux.. dont have any problems. Must be gentoo :D jk!

IMHO, nothing beats Opera.... <full stop>
I agree. I've been using it for about 4 years or something and it's never let me down. I just downgraded from the newest Opera to an older one because the new Opera's seem to also reload a page when you click back. It drives me insane.

I'm using Kubuntu on this machine :D

Also it slows right the fsck down when I open any website with ajax (i.e. Facebook). It is really driving me insane.

Then again I do tend to have 15+ tabs open at any given time...

I'm liking Firefox 3 beta. But if someone has a local link to Opera I'll give it a try :D

Yep, i've been a long time Opera user.

<Right click> insert note - is a great feature, add your regular stuff here such as email addy or whatever else you often need to type.

<Paste & go> - cant do without this.

Customize, well, everything (just about) is down the bottom of my screen. Dont see the point in having stuff up top.

And yep, you can go back and page doesnt reload, which for data sensative types, like myself, its great.

I just like opera.

The only reason I uninstalled Opera was because it wouldn't open up my router settings pages. I could only get onto the first page. The links from there on would not work.

If you are a FF user in Linux, you really should switch to Swiftfox. A lot more optimised and performs faster I find than the equivalent version FF.

what router is that?

Opera 9 is pretty great, it feels as if webpages load alot faster than IE :) even when I am downloading

Probably can't blame this on Opera, probably just bad coding from the manufacturer
Nothing stoping you from using Opera for everything else, then use FF or IE  when you need to access the router, not like you will be doing that every 5 mins.

Of course I can blame Opera. It's just a normal html page. If it can't even open that, then it is not worthy of being deemed a browser. I should not have to open up different apps all the time just to change settings. One browser should be able to do it all.
