Axxess is buggered, trust me, downloads are crap...
fffffffffffffffffffffffff..........ck Youtube full speed, but NZBs limited to 50KB/s. Why axxess, why?
If you're getting full speed on YouTube, it's probably due to priority on the network. I'm not sure exactly how Axxess do their QoS, but I believe it's similar to ours![]()

Daytime Policy
There's a usage threshold (as described below). Should a product threshold be exceeded during any 10 consecutive calendar day period, the speed for the respective service will be halved between 7:00am to 19:00pm during weekdays.
Connection Speed 10 Day Rolling Window Lowered to
384Kbps [192Kbps upload] 5GB 192kbps
512kbps [256Kbps upload] 10GB 256kbps
1024kbps [384Kbps upload] 20GB 512kbps
After Hours Policy
Between 19:00pm to 7:00am the account speed will be restored to full line speed up to 10Mb/s (not account speed). Based on network performance and the customers average usage, the Axxess Protocol Manager may manage Peer to Peer, HTTP Downloading and NNTP traffic.
Please note that public holidays do not form part of the afterhours policy, should a public holiday fall on a weekday the same daytime and afterhours policies apply as stated above.
We use complex calculations factoring in usage trends, services used, projected usage measured alongside available capacity
and that affects ONLY P2P downloads.
How many gigs have you downloaded this month? In the Afrihost threads they're saying that 45GB is considered excessive on 1Mb uncapped with 200GB being the upper limit on the faster accounts.
Sorry for this late post...I am currently on a 4mb line (uncapped) with MTN, and they throttled me last month on the 21st of July when i was only at 68BG...can you believe![]()
...i was definitely throttled...saw it in my/their Control Panel...We don't throttle any of our DSL products. As you can see from the dates, much of this info is almost a year old and our policies have evolved greatly since then. We don't throttle ever, and we only shape (normal) Uncapped accounts when there is excessive demand (and only on P2P and downloads).
If what you experienced felt like throttling, there may be other issues at work which we can diagnose if we do some troubleshooting. Drop me PM
