Mobile devices and PCs are using the same memory architecture now, and Samsung and Apple are willing to pay more for guaranteed stock, which is driving the price up.

I've heard it said that there is more to determining the value of an item than what it cost to make.

From the sound of it, you want to buy at least 32Gb of very fancy DDR4 RAM, and even then, what that costs online wouldn't get you more than a machine that is adequate for general home/office use. [Maybe my standards are a little too high?]

How much RAM are you wanting to buy, and where have you been looking at prices?

I don't know hey, I upgraded my PC recently and the Ram was very cheap compared to the other components, maybe you shouldn't be upgrading to DDR4 if you want to build a PC for R4000?

I almost found new ram for a fair price 1500 for two kingston 2400mhz chips which was an online store that discounted their stock, but that was taken before i could pay for it, if anyone has an unused or 2nd hand 2400 mhz 16gb chip or two 8gb chips they might let go pls send me a pm.
