Why is iBurst so expensive.

I actually agree (on most points) with riverdusty here. Why get faster downloads (I get a good ~900kbps) when I can still only download 3GB!! At least with iBurst I can go over (every few months I do a 7GB+ run) while still only paying for my measly 3500MB. :rolleyes: Besides, most technical people I know are happy with their 384kbps lines - again, while the ridiculous cap is in place, speed makes very little difference.

Where do I disagree? Bandwidth is not cheap in this country. Period.

I can tell you that getting a 4GB ISO in 2 hours as compared to 9 hours is something I appreciate.

Iburst are a bunch of greedy buffoons, just like Vodacom !
They see that the general trend is for data to get cheaper, and they have users drop them for ADSL, but they don't care..

They will milk their ever-decreasing subscribers dry rather than compete with the real world and increase their subscriber base.

Seems to me they went to the Sentech school of business growth.

That sounds like ANY "broadband" connection in South Africa...

lets look at it this way.

ADSL = HardCap
3G = pay through your arse per meg once you reach your cap
Sentech = we'll not go there :D
Iburst = 64k throttle once you use your cap....

Personally I've been using iburst since thier inception, besides the fact that they have monkies working at the accounts department. I always maintain a full 120Kbps download speed on DDL's, I don't usually go past 20gigs a month so I guess they not really bitching at me. but from 3.5gigs I get 20gigs downloads is it worth it?

I also had 3G with 1gig package that the company organise for me and lets see:

1gig @ R349 with R1.20 out of bundle per meg... so if I was to use this package and download 19gigs of stuff I would have to fork out over 20k?
