Geyser is driven through CBI Astute with two daily sessions = 1h @ 10:00 & 1.5h @ 14:30 daily. This provides enough hot water for our needs.

Once in a while we get a surprise cold shower. The app shows the electricity consumption but the water is cold.

Any ideas?

somebody at home left a tap running, emptying the geyser?
long shower, large bath?
kids?
Most likely this.

But if not, then:

What app are you using?

I'm having a weird issue with my Sonoff POWR320D randomly turning off which is leaving me with cold water daily.

You shouldn't turn it off at all.
It runs better when left on.

Is it definitely showing consumption?
As in you can see the 3kw being used in real time?

EDIT: I ask as I just replaced element in one of my geysers because it had bust. CBI Astute was turning on and off, but obviously there wasn't actually any power drawn.

When do you get the surprise cold showers? In the morning before 10am I would imagine. I can't see that running the geyser for 1.5h in the afternoon will provide enough hot water to last the night.

I have the same setup as the OP. I configured with the CBI app, and run it via Google Home.

Yup. I have mine configuerd for 6-7:30 am, 12-12:30, and then 8-9pm. Of course these days I have to manually switch on sometimes due to eskom's deliciousness.

Have you checked the black wire? I think that's the cause.

Evidently your house has been selected to participate in the trials.

Don't think so. Using prepaid and geyser charging off- peak times from solar

Interesting. I only check afterwards and it is intermittent. Maybe once a week.
