Scenario A)
Me and my friends are chilling after lunch,
friend A makes a joke about friend B being his father,
I make a "Darth Vader : Luke I am your father" thing, claiming to be A's father
friend B does the same thing.
Friend A asks how is it possible that he has 2 fathers?
Friend B says he's sorry for lying but friend A was adopted and that we adopted him as a gay couple.
I say that I'm sorry for friend B lying but friend B is actually his mommy but got a sex change and now is his daddy.
Everyone goes :erm:

Scenario B)
I get a new phone so my friends add my new number to the whatsapp group
So I have conversations with my other number, As if I have 2 voices in my head arguing with each other....
How could you not find that funny?
it was hilarious!

Scenario C)
Friend makes a joke about me having a small willy so I threaten to prove him wrong with pics
He pushes me to do so, I send a pic of a 500ml coke wrapped in a sock.
Everyone says its poor taste and not funny
how?
I didn't even start the gag.

note: not necessarily the same friends in scenario.
Enlighten me! explain to me funnies!

Humour is a very spontaneous thing.

Joke 1 seems funny and in the flow of the conversation.
Joke 2 would have been annoying.
Joke 3 also seems pretty funny.

You, on the other hand, are trying to overanalyse social dynamics, which aren't easily reducible to parts. Something is either funny or it isn't. Do you struggle in that way with all kind of social scenarios?

The pic that you sent, how did everyone say it was poor taste if you sent it to your one friend?

Do you find yourself thinking through a social scenario after it is over and nitpicking through every thing you should have/shouldn't have done?

its all in the execution / flow. Friends were flicking water at each other, falling over themselves laughing. It was fun and spontaneous. Two hours later a guy lumbers up to a chick and dumps coke over her head. That was...... not so much.
Then again, maybe your friends just don't get it.

So why was your coke gag distasteful? what was the objection?

Pretty much, I have algorithms for everything.
Sometimes they work, sometimes they spectacularly fail.

Oh, I sent it to him, he said it was poor taste, I consulted our mutual friends who agreed with him.
Yes I do, how else would I improve my algorithms?

Because it emulated an actual penis picture....which is not cool(I agree)
Except this was meant to be punny
I don't get it.

Needs new friends.. 2 might be a bit irritating if done too much or over a long time but not the end of the world. Would laugh at the other two.

It's hard to tell in a text, but 80% of the joke is in the delivery.
Scenario A: You just killed the joke.
Scenario B: That's just annoying..
Scenario C: Your sense of humour is odd, man.

I once put chunky peanut butter down the side of the toilet and onto the floor with some smeared on a piece of tp. Thought it was hysterical. No-one else seemed to appreciate it though. Sometimes jokes just don't fly. Does this happen to you all the time, with all your friends that you're so aware of your jokes / interaction?

What is funny to you might not be funny to others. Some people also don't like jokes that much.

They can't be true friends then, if I had done that to my friends they probably woulda laughed and been like wtf, us as friends never judge each other for the things we do because we all know each others personalities pretty well and we all know if we do something gross or whatever its just for the lols and doesn't reflect the true person we are, it's all just for fun and being stupid.

I've had the same group of firends for about 8 years now (it's like 6 of us) and to this day we haven't had one fallout or one fight with each other, I think it's becaus we are honest with each other, if I think someone is talking crap we tell them they talking crap, we hide nothing, and I think this is why we all get along cause there is no pretending and we are who we are.

All of them?
There's one overlap between A and C

:erm:

Well not necessarily all of them no, but for actual friends (not acquaintances) I much prefer ones with similar humor profiles.

This.

Someone should dump a concoction like that on the poo-protesters next time they start with their shenanigans! :p
